I use to share a crafty blog with one of my best friends. She is a fabric crafter predominately and has made bags, dogs toys and quilts and also made medieval costumes for her other interest, re-enactment. She also knitted items such as scarves, gloves, snoods, and a shawl. My favourite thing was the red bag she made me using stick weaving, which is based on an old idea of weaving wool around sticks. The bag was beautiful and lined with a gold coloured fabric. Unfortunately the strap stretched due to me overfilling it with books, so its currently back with her awaiting repairs!
We use to go to craft fairs together, sharing a stall which shared the costs and also keeping each other company, as sometimes craft fairs can be deadly dull when they are not well attended. We always had a lot of fun and were often seen chatting away putting the world to rights or cackling our heads off! Unfortunately her stuff suddenly stopped selling and after a year of attending craft fairs and not selling a single thing she decided to give up. Plus she had started to help out another friend who was setting up her own business selling dog products such as grooming equipment, treats, toys and super cute costumes and coats. She still attends craft fairs, but now she helps run our friend's dog stall instead.
When we were still sharing a stall and going to craft fairs together we decided to set up our own blog to show off our makes and to promote any fairs we were attending. We also organised a few fairs for local charities and organisations ourselves. The blog helped us to promote these events. The blog still currently exists and can be found at http://thecraftguide.blogspot.co.uk/ It was last updated following a craft fair and fun dog show at a local secondary school in the summer of 2013.
Since then I have continued to attend craft fairs on my own to hopefully sell cards to make some money to keep feeding my crafting habit, although I didn't like attending them on my own as it was a bit lonely and not much fun when there were no customers to talk to. Luckily I have a brilliant father who will occasionally come along and help me, as well as keeping me company. He is also an amazing seller and always seems to make lots of sales! He is my good luck charm. If he can't sell something then you know its a bad craft fair!
Obviously this also meant I continue crafting, but I didn't continue with the blog and although I have thought about starting my own blog about my crafting adventures for the last year, I never got round to doing it, but I still continued to take photographs of my favourite makes so clearly it was still at the back on my mind. So finally I have my own craft blog! I hope to share photos of my cards and any other arty or crafty makes, promote and review craft fairs I attend, rave about my favourite products and probably moan a lot about not having enough money to buy all the crafty goodness I want! So basically these are my crafty adventures! Enjoy!
